Some Fauna

Starting with some attempted near-realistic style animals.

And a not-so realistic bull terrier,

Add in some generic fantasy fauna.

And finish with me.
Were I a dog, I'd be a big, fluffy mutt.

Curvature of Night and Day

I love pirates.  Just throwing that out there.
Ruthless as many of them were, they still adhered to a code of conduct and camaraderie that has drawn my imagination to the lifestyle since I was very young.

This was a quick conceptual piece I did awhile back and one of the few digital pieces I'm proud of.  I hope to finish it someday; clean it up and tweak the composition.

While I'm on the subject of digital oceans, I might as well toss this one in as well.

I'm happier with the waves and clouds than I am that dinky little boat.  Considering this was a quick speedpaint done before class, I can't really complain.

By the Power of Friendship

So there's this cartoon called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This show's popularity has released waves upon waves of its adorable influence across all corners of the internet, drawing in fans of all ages and genders. I recently was drawn into the fandom by the great writing and fluid animation. But I digress.

In the episode "Suited for Success," all the characters come into new wardrobes. I won't go into too many spoilers, but the character of Rainbow Dash ends up in this getup: http://fav.me/d3b176c

Inspiration came a knocking and I just couldn't resist sketching this.

Remind me to gather some weapon refs. I need to practice swords more.

And here's some more pony sketches, because there's too much text in this post for just one image.

Me as a pony.  Complete with my own gladiator helmet.

This one was based on my pony-mod character in Terraria.

Wrapping it up with some actual color.  Until we meet again.

A reminder that I don't own My Little Pony or any of its characters.  They all belong to Hasbro and the amazing Lauren Faust.

Gotta work on my punny titles....

Hey there, world.  I figured I'd kick off this blog with a 'something more' rather than just a sketch.
This was my final for my Storyboarding class.    It stars my character Default the raccoon, and the as of yet unnamed feline unfortunate enough to have caught his eye.
I designed Default to use whenever I try something new.  His design is really simple and flexible, and he can be bipedal or quadrupedal, so whatever I want to practice I can do it with him.  That's where he gets his name.

For this assignment we had to effectively portray at least one shift in color to reflect the mood.

Looking back at the title, I can practically hear the crickets chirping already.
I realize that when I describe these to I refer to them both with masculine pronouns. In truth, I really don't see them as either gender.  I purposefully kept them androgynous, so it's really up to the viewer mind to decide whether they be male or female.
